The Renovation is done
(but the hard work continues)
The House’s original wood floor was restored to highlight the main living room.
Renovation bottom line:
under budget and with great style
The effort to restore the luster of the SAE Fraternity House at 635 North 16th Street has reached a successful conclusion. Over several years, a team of SAE alums assessed needs, toured other renovated fraternities and recruited alums in related fields before beginning construction in the Spring of 2017. The goal was ambitious, to finish construction and landscaping over the course of one summer. All work at the House was completed ($325,000 under budget) days before actives moved in for the Fall 2017 semester making SAE the only House on the UNL campus not to displace students.
Renovation efforts refreshed the classic elegance of first floor areas, met all fire and university housing regulation codes and modernized rooms and study areas to meet the needs of modern students.
- The historic look of the House (built in 1928) was maintained throughout the first floor
- All rooms were remodeled & renovated
- The yard was professionally landscaped by Kevin Atkinson (NLP)
- The renovated back patio features new landscaping and a new bar-b-que grill
